How to run a test with the BETACHEK C50

Before you start
You'll need your BETACHEK C50 with a test cassette loaded and a lancet fitted. Wash your hands with warm, soapy water and dry them thoroughly. This removes traces of glucose that could affect the result and improves blood flow to your fingertips.

1 – Open the sensor cover
Slide the sensor cover in the direction of the arrow. The meter switches on, checks the display and shows the number of tests remaining.

2 – Bring a test into position
Turn the thumbwheel in the direction of the flashing arrow. Slow down when only one segment is left, and keep turning until the meter beeps and shows OK.

3 – Take a blood sample
Press your finger firmly against the tip of the lancing device and release it with the S button. Milk your finger from the base towards the tip to form a drop.

4 – Apply the blood
Only apply the blood drop once the blood-drop symbol flashes. The flashing red light shows where the blood goes – cover this area completely without touching the test area. You have about 2 minutes to do this.

5 – Your result
The result appears after about 5 seconds with the time and date, and is saved automatically.

6 – Flag your result (optional)
While the result is displayed, you can flag it with the M button – before or after a meal, other, or control test – and save with S.

7 and 8 – Dispose of the test and close the cover
Turn the used test into the waste chamber of the cassette with the thumbwheel, then close the sensor cover. The meter switches off.

Note: If the red-lit area is not fully covered with blood, the result may be inaccurate or the error message E-7 may appear.
