  • A former accu-ckek mobile user for many years.
    Took a little time to get used to the C50 but now very comfortable with it. Certainly excellent value for money. You need to be very precise as to where you place your blood sample to get the best results.

    Bought the monitor as previous reviews good - the cassette is very easy to use and insert in the monitor. After a couple of issues with the amount of blood I used these were ironed out and no problems whatsoever now

    Used the Accu Check Mobile for years and now they are phasing it out. Thank you to Betacheck for introducing the C50,just the same,easy to use and so convenient,no messing about with individual strips when blood sugars are low. Keep it up!!

  • I like it a lot and it is a lot like the pogo
    I think the one thing I don’t like is having to load lancets every time. The pogo cartridge was much easier in that regard but I find if I replace the lancet after I use it then I’m ready to go for my next test.

    I loved my "all-in-one" POGO glucose meter for ease of testing. No messing with test strips, etc. This product is a great replacement for that device, which was discontinued by its manufacturer.

    I really like the cassette and the built in lancing device. Just wind away a used test and you're done. Good app too. It has nothing to do with the test, but after the test the result appears in the app.

    My clinic gave me a meter, which came with several bits and pieces in a zip up bag. I really didnt want to use it. Betachek C50 is totally different. It fits in my handbag and doing a test doesnt leave me with a piece of plastic with blood on one end. Looking forward to trying the app.

  • Having everything in one device is great
    I previously had a POGO, and couldnt find an alternative until I saw Betacheck c50. Its different to POGO but I actually think its a good thing. Everything is together and running a test is very quick and easy. The instructions are clear and the videos are very helpful. I am glad to have found it.

  • Overall better than what's currently on the market for all-in-one meters.
    Betachek App does not sync well in Android: e.g. (1) need to do on-off the meter a couple times to sync. (2) meter does not auto connect to App. (2) Wrong date entry on one occasion.

    Would be more convenient if I can load at least 10 lancets at once.

  • A close alternative to Pogo
    While there's a definite learning curve after having used a Pogo meter, the BetaChek is certainly an improvement over the usual testing meter. A lot fewer "moving parts" to lose or have to lug around.

  • Not as straightforward as POGO but one you figure it out it is easy
    The buttons/wheels etc are a little old school and took a minute or several to understand how to set it up and how to deal with the blood and controls before and after, but once you get it then it is straightforward. The controls should be printed with actual values and +/-, not just "OK."

    Just finished first two cassettes and found it convenient not having to carry a bag around with separate bits and pieces etc. The wind on wind off test strip is certainly a good idea along with the lancet built into the unit

    It's very convenient to have an all-in-one solution. I keep a few spare lancets with me in the bag, and it's fine. I like the bluetooth connectivity, though I wish it would integrate with Apple Health - I have to manually re-enter results.

    The local surgery provided a meter that involved the use of separate blood strips. I simply could not work it. I got the Betachek online and it has worked perfectly as an All-in-One meter with no separate strips to get entangled with. Dead simple to use.

    This is so much easier than the old fashioned method of having to get a test strip out of a tub, insert it into the machine and then find somewhere to throw the used strip away. It is all in one, ready to use. Just turn the tape until the yellow part shows. Press the button for the needle, do the prick test, get the reading and turn the tape on and then close the machine. So much less fiddly and more hygienic. Judy like a music cassette. Wind it on until you get to the section you want, and then wind it on again. One machine has everything you need need rather than a machine, tub of strips and then the needle pen. Would thoroughly recommend the C50, especially for older people. Simple to use and very compact

    Very easy to use. The information in the manual provided was easy to follow and comprehensive. The data provided via the Betachek app is comprehensive and extremely useful for your ongoing diabetes management. The convenience of having a test strip cassette, rather than the individual test strips, is excellent and makes it ideal for use when travelling.
    The in-built lancet is also a great idea, although I use a lancet which came with my previous meter and uses the Accu-Chek FastClix 6 lancet cassette for extra convenience.

    Very simple to load, use, and track your data. Wasted a few tests initially as my hands were too cold and didn’t want to give up enough blood, but soon got the hang of making sure they were warm enough. Quick results.   • Pretty good and convenient
    The one minor issue I have had is that when holding it and winding on, it is very easy to nudge the cover. If you do this after a test, then it will complain that you have closed the cover before finishing the wind on, and then stop giving feedback that you have wound it to the right point. This doesn't cause any problem on the next test, it is mainly an annoyance.

    The machine is super easy to use. I love that the test strips are integrated. I've lost one or two strips by spinning too fast. The app works well but the machine must be on and nearby and you need to load the app and refresh the screen to make sure the most recent scores are logged, I like that it can be exported as a PDF for record keeping. Using this to record fasting blood sugars, but the app lets you document which blood sugar you're taking (waking, before meal, after meal, after exercise, etc.).

  • Brilliant Meter
    After my long-time standing meter, Accu-Chek Mobile broke and I realized it was no longer available I went searching for a similar replacement and found this meter. The meter is extremely easy and convenient to use and I definitely plan on getting a couple more. The PDF that BetaChek send you to get the cassettes on prescription was also extremely helpful and I had no issues getting my GP to prescribe them because of this. Couldn't recommend this meter or company enough.

  • Cassettes integrated with lancettes make a world of difference.
    Older people with reducing eyesight will find handling small strips and dropping blood on them difficult whilst avoiding dropping them or contaminating them. This concise machine addresses such challenges. It even has a flashing red light to aid accuracy in supplying sample. Only difficulty is I do lose a lot of tests for reasons I don't understand in the winding on process.
    It took a few attempts to realize O.K. message happens twice in the process Once to signal correct disposal of used test strip and a second time to signal readiness to apply sample to yellow strip. Sometimes error codes appear regularly and I lose a strip. I get that I was too near natural light as one (in order to see), had to close curtains.
    Also, when the blood sample seems too much or too little. I wouldn't have agreed or expected that strip to be unable to be used and therefore disposed of rather than add a little blood. However , other than this cost related criticism, this machine is a great size, neat look, great display, nice portable pouch, great lancettes...love the cassette idea.
    Final comment, would like Android users to be able to have the same recording of results as Apple users.
    Thoroughly recommend this machine.

    The first few times I used this meter took a bit of time getting used to it. Had a few error messages and wasted a few tests, but after that everything is fine. The convenience is great and very simple to use. I have been tracking my glucose levels every two days but at different times of the day and the trace shows me how things vary. Great product!!

    It’s great! Really! I can take my blood sugar level so easily and with no fuss. It used to involve getting the pouch out, opening the box to remove a test strip, being careful not to touch the end in case it skewed the reading, pushing it into the top of the meter, getting the lancet out of the bag, taking the piercing tool apart, inserting a new lancet, priming it, pricking my finger and then massaging a drop of blood, picking up the monitor, finding it had switched itself off, trying to switch it back on without disturbing the blood blob, and then eventually getting it onto the strip and seeing the reading. Now, it’s just flip the cover, wind the cassette on, prick finger, deposit blood, wind on, close lid, put new lancet in for next time, all done! Check the results every now and again on the app. I can see the trends, and act accordingly. Because it is so convenient, I find that I am using it more often so I can get an even better look at my sugar levels.
    The first unit I received had a problem. Rebecca at customer aftercare was brilliant. I had a brand new unit within a couple of days. No trouble at all. This is a really good company, with really good products. Thanks

    I am not a lover of needles but the lancet’s are unbelievably nearly pain free, I use setting 3 the wife setting 5, (we ordered 2 C50’s one for me and one for my wife) we have taken 3 tests over the weeks and results were pretty consistent 4.7 to 5.2 after fasting. Very satisfied with the C50.

    A well made product, convenient as it is an all in one system, as to ease of use it is fine apart from the fact that the test strip is underneath your finger when you put the blood on the strip so you cant always get the blood in the correct place. that said, it is far better to carry about than the previous system I used which was provided by my GP.

  • Handy and easy to use
    Really easy to use and all in once device is great so no fumbling with a lancet and then meter. One improvement, it would be nice to have some kind of soft case to protect it a little.

    A nice little piece of kit that all fits nicely in a small drawstring bag (not supplied). Simple to use with a lovely large screen to read with ease.

  • Very good product, however.....
    The only let down is the needle finger pricker, at its deepest setting I find very little or no blood comes from my finger. I’ve had to go back to my pen pricker to get the right amount of blood for the device.

    I like the fact I can get rid of the kit and just carry one thing. Its a great idea. Finger pricker is quite gentle.
