The Accu-Chek Guide Me’s multiple components and test strips

The Accu-Chek Guide Me is a budget friendly meter that can be paired with the mySugr app for results analysis and sharing. However, its dependence on individual test strips and a separate device for lancing the finger is outdated.  The process—taking a strip from its container, inserting it into the meter, using the pen finger pricker, applying a blood sample, and then disposing of the strip—can be cumbersome. For those testing in a car, on the move, or dealing with shaky hands, poor vision, or tight schedules, this multi-step routine can feel like a juggling act. 

The Accu-chek Guide Me has no test strip ejection button

Perhaps the most complained about issue is the lack of a strip ejection mechanism. As the test strips are very small it is difficult to grab a test strip by the end that has the blood on it after a test. The previous model (Accu-Chek Guide) had a test strip ejection button for this reason.  This means you can either pull the strip out by hand, which often leads to blood on your fingers or use a tissue —hardly hygienic or convenient.
